In the heat of the afternoon, I snagged a great campsite with Ponderosa Trees. Although I had my eye on a different view to paint in the afternoon shade of these trees, this other early-morning view the next day instantly attracted me. I had to get up at 6AM to paint it in the shade of a single, small juniper tree. As I painted, I keep imaging the hike down the deep shaded canyon I was viewing, wondering what lay beyond.
